Jeremy Corbyns Antisemitism.
36 Answers
I am convinced that Jeremy Corbyns blind allegiance to the Palestinians has spilled over into antizionism and then antisemitism.
For a man I always admired, I have to believe it is due to stupidity rather than racism.
I definitely could never vote Labour while he is in charge.
And imagine Diane Abbot as a Home Secretary? Oh gosh! What a nightmare!
Any thoughts to add?

Stupid, yes – but arrogance and ignorance are way up there with that. Diane Abbot’s embarrassing performances are taken as read, but from Jeremy Corbyn to that appalling excuse for a human being, Naz Shah, arrogance - and ignorance - abound. So convinced are they of the righteousness of their own version of the political landscape of the Middle East – and more - that anyone with any nous at all should abandon any hope of reason or common sense ever infiltrating the party.

It is possibly an unpleasant notion but the more I think about it the idea that Corbyn IS an anti-Semite makes sense. He could change things but doesn’t. He could curb the utterances and actions of the anti-Semites in his party but doesn’t. Not because it’s beyond his control; he is a ruthless operator. Choice? Yes.
Corbyn is a lot of things, but he is not antisemitic.
The Labour Party (like the other political parties) have adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of Antisemitism.
The point where the problem is occurring is not racism against Jewish people or organisations, it is criticism of Israel the country. Many socialists want to be able to criticise Israel’s Foreign Policy when it breaks UN resolutions, attacks other countries, assasinates Palestinians, or invades Gaza. But when they do criticise the country, they are labelled anti semitic by their political enemies, who are using anti semitism as a political stick to poke Labour with.

Gromit, //The Labour Party (like the other political parties) have adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of Antisemitism.//
Not so. They’ve adopted an amended version.

They need poking! Among Labour ranks the line between the Jewish people and Zionism appears to be very blurred.

The have adopted the IHRAs definition in full. Alongside the definition (but not part of it), The IHRA published 11 examples for guidance. The Labour Party published 7 of the examples, omitting the others because they would have hampered free speech about Israel the country.

the 4 examples that Labour did not use were:
- Accusing Jewish people of being more loyal to Israel than their home country
- Claiming that Israel's existence as a state is a racist endeavour
- Requiring higher standards of behaviour from Israel than other nations
- Comparing contemporary Israeli policies to those of the Nazis.

This is the definition by the IHRA which Labour have adopted.
“ Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities. “

It is clear from the IHRAs own document on the definition, that the guidance is for the IHRA own use, and not part of the definition. It says...
// To guide IHRA in its work, the following examples may serve as illustrations: //
Highbury,
I am in no way affiliated to the Labour Party. I have never been a member, never donated to them, and have not even voted Labour for over 20 years.

The whole point of making a definition of anti-semitism was that to clear any ambiguity. So the definition was simple, short and unambiguous. And anyone can easily agree with it.
The illustrative examples are the definition. Some of those are contentious, which is why they were not included in the definition itself.

Gromit, if it's good enough to be used by the UK and Scottish governments, the Welsh Assembly, the Crown Prosecution Service, the College of Policing, the National Union of Students and more than 120 local authorities including Bradford council, which recently adopted it, why do you think Labour found it necessary to amend it?
