Safety and all that? Probably not allowed to go visiting strange people in strange houses....
Our cubs and scouts raise funds by packing shopping for people in supermarkets.
I use dto do it every year 50 or so years ago when I was a Cub and whilst it was good fun at times and we raised a fair amount some people exploited us- e.g. spent a whole day weeding a garden for 10p.
I haven't seen bob a jobbers now for at least 20 years. I'm not sure the cub groups would be able to do an adequate risk assessemnt to send out kids wandering the streets knocking on strangers' doors. I wouldn't be surprised if they used other money raising schmes like washing cars in a car park or packing bags at a supermarket where they can be supervised
It officially ended in 1992.
Not been done for many a year. If we believe the media reports it seems this is a nation of paedos and perverts so perhaps the Scouting Organisation decided they have a duty of care for their cubs. A scout HQ down the road hold an annual car wash on their land every year.
They now do more supervised projects across their communities and well done to them for that.

didn,t know it was that long since it ended
I bet those small jobs have built up to some pretty major ones after 27 years.
Just adding to what others have said. I was the treasurer for our local Scout group and had to be CRB-checked, even though I had no contact with the boys in that role. My son was one of those scouts and I regularly gave lifts to other boys - without being checked.
They’re not going to send the lads out to knock on strangers’ doors nowadays.
Just to make clear, I was mother of a scout quite a few years before I was treasurer.

I think it is a shame that times have changed for the worse like that,
when I was 5 years old I used to walk a mile up a country lane on my own to get the bus to school, my Mother felt I was perfectly safe to go on my own as there was no traffic
Also shillings haven't been legal tender for some years now.
