I said 'many older men', AOG. The comment wasn't aimed at you specifically.
I know a lot of older men who believe women should be 'kept in their place', living only to make the lives of their men comfortable and think it is only right and proper that they make all the major decisions.
I know a few older men who believe that as they are retired they can do as they darn well please, never lift a finger round the house or make so much as a cup of tea while their wives keep on doing all the cooking, cleaning and running round after their husbands.
Younger women aren't going to stand for that when they reach retirement age.

/// These men secretly harbour the thought that any lesbian simply needs to meet the 'right' man to have such peculiar ideas expunged from her mind on a wave of 'proper' intimate experience, the sort that only a man (like them!) can provide. ///
For your information this thread is about women who have already met the 'right' man, but only to find in their later years, that they would now wish to seek a Lesbian relationship.
It is not about members of the female sex who become Lesbians without even experiencing a relationship with a man.

The media these days seem to keep up a constant stream of items regarding sex. Whether it's gays, transsexuals, lesbians or the LGBT community . It would seem that it is elderly lesbians at the moment. It is nothing new for two women to be attracted to one another but in the past they would have got together and lived quite happily as a couple without anyone giving them a second thought . In fact the word--'lesbian'---was never used . No-one sniggered or singled them out as being different. I don't think anybody even gave a second thought that they might be having a sexual relationship. Nowadays there is far too much emphasis on a persons sexuality. What happens behind closed doors and in the bedroom is their business and no-one elses.

Any thread develops its direction from the points people raise, and almost never does it stick directly to the OP.

Do you really know a lot of old men or are you just assuming?
I could also say that I know a lot of women who have a firm hold on the purse strings and demand that they make all major decisions themselves.

I could also say that I know many older men, who throughout their younger days, served their country, fixed the family car, carried out all the DIY jobs around the house and garden, opened hard to open jars etc etc.
Yes all that while holding down a job to support his wife and family, so wasn't it fair for the wife to stay comfortable at home to look after the children when they weren't at school, and to do a little cooking and cleaning in their spare time?
