I know people who will wash a garment after wearing it once even though it is obviously not dirty (not talking underwear of course). Mine go back in the wardrobe to wear again, possibly for a few times until it is obviously dirty. Also towels, some will put it in the wash after only one use drying themselves after a shower. Why not hang it to dry to use again? Some peoples obsession with cleanliness is ridiculous.

Stuff doesn't go back in the wardrobe dirty. Clothes get taken out, worn until needing a wash (usually either a day or a week depending on the garment) then gets washed and returned to the wardrobe. I think it wrong to encourage unclean lifestyles. Too much slapdash behaviour these days.
A shirt worn once may look clean but may smell sweaty. I would not put a previously worn item back into the closet with clean items. That's what quick wash is designed for on washing machines.
One wash a week. Anything less is clatty, especially in this sweaty heat. Might be easy for the celebs who can buy new clothes on demand.
Ewww. No I couldn't.
Wear clothes once. Wash.
Same with towels.
Sheets. 3 days.
Bigbad would you do the same if you had to hand wash everything?
Possibly.
But I don't, so it's irrelevant.
Washing towels after one use is unnecessary. You are coming out of the shower clean and using the towel to dry yourself.
Unnecessary to you, banker_frank, a preference for me.
Underwear and socks will be wear and wash. Trousers will get washed approx after several outings. T-Shirts and other shirts directly worn next to skin a wear and wash.Sheets once a week. Towels likewise.Washing machine is usually operating every other day. As I type the sheets are whizzing round after a previous clothes wash.
Should the need to conserve our precious resources sometimes outweigh our personal preferences?
If it's a toss up between using less resources, and not being clean, then it's no contest for me.
I wash my towels once a week.
Bed clothes once every other week
Bra every two or three times they are worn
Shirts worn once then washed
Jeans are never washed
Trousers are washed probably every three or four times they are worn
I only ever do I wash load a week
Jeans should be washed when you can stand them up on their own.
Same with your pants, Hoppy ;-)
I've had jeans like that when they come off the line in winter.
I don’t wash things like dresses and trousers every time. Only if they’re obviously dirty or sweaty.

Sheets, towels and bras: don’t even ask, you’d be disgusted;)

Knickers and socks: one wear only.
Clean socks, underwear and t-shirt everyday (twice a day if im going out at night)
Work jeans washed after 3 days
Bedding changed once a week
Towel changed once or more a week
T-towels everyday
Jumpers/sweatshirts, when and as.
I think its quite irresponsible to wash towels after a single use. Even hotels ask you to hang them up and resuse them. I cant imagine dealing with the volume of washing that would create and there are only two of us.

Wash underwear, tops and socks after a single use, but everything else can be worn or used more than once between washes.

Apart from jeans, all clothing is washed (and ironed) every day - towels and bedding (not ironed) are done once a week.
