Why Do The Scots Say 'time'?

I notice that the Scots say 'time' after words which are self standing and do not need 'time' added to them. Here are some words which I have noticed today to which the Scots add 'time'. It is not an inclusive list.

Christmas
Summer
Winter
Evening.

Is it an equivalence to the user of the word 'wee'?

Haven't heard 'messages', meaning shopping, for a very long time.
Denner fae the bridie shop. “Eh’ll huv a plehn ane an an ingin ane an a”.
Wee is a comforting little word ..
.. it might be nice for wee Jimmy to go round and visit his granny. But you widdna want him to wee in yer sink !
Nae pehs?
I use "messages" but why is it singular when they are on a line or in a bag?
A message is a single item. messages are plural.
When I was small the substitute word for shopping was rations.
I once knew a Scottish lass who said "windy" for window as, "Look oot the windy" Do they still say that up there?
My dad used to say ' we'll be on iron rations!' anyone know what that means?

It means emergency food supplies..
There's some debate about the year of first use.

//Iron ration is adapted from Ger. eiserne portion, used (1870 - 1) of a reserve ration enclosed in metal case.//
Do you recall that Mamya .. or didyou look it up .. 8-)
Watch it you ;-)
JD, the messages needed are listed on a message line and when they've been bought, they're put in a message bag.

I wasted my time asking! Nobody knows.
Time merely denotes a period and is not restricted to Scotland. Remember 'spring time for Hitler and Germany'?
