Are members of the public allowed to take their guns anywhere they want, or is it up to the building owners whether people can bring guns in?

Do they have to check them at the door, or are they just told not to bring them at all?

It seems like there are a lot of places where they would not particularly want loads of random members of the public - strangers - coming in and having guns on them.
Places such as libraries, schools TV studios, leisure centres, banks etc.

thanks

Yes.
in some states it's still legal to walk down the high st with a gun belt on like john Wayne!
TTT I've been in Supermarkets that have a (manned) gun-counter where you can buy a gun & simply pop it into your trolley along with the groceries & pay for it at the check out.
Joko; you forgot to mention bars. That would have been the first on my list. Beer and bullets!
A very drunk cowboy entered a bar waving a six shooter. “ Ok you dudes. Who was messing with my wife when I wuz on that cattle trail all month. I’m gonna kill you?”
A voice from the back of the bar piped up,” Your gonna need more bullets friend”
