Coronavirus: Will You Comply With The Government’s Advice?
271 Answers
Whether you fall into the group classified as ‘at risk’, or are over 70 and advised to remain at home, or younger and fit but requested to abandon your social life, will you comply - and if not why not?
Me? I think we are duty bound.

Of course we will comply, as you rightly say Naomi we feel we are ALL duty bound to do so. Chillidoubt must feel like banging his head against the wall with some of the responses here. It’s not much to ask to put your social life on hold for a few months is it? Better that than catch this virus or continue the spread of it. I despair at times...

I’ve recently started retail work so I’m experiencing excess human contact (it’s mega busy), the kids finish school tomorrow and boy #1 has been told his paramedics ambulance placement is cancelled (bit worrying, everything was hunky dory yesterday). Until I know different, the kids won’t be socialising although I hope we can go for the odd walk. Himself also works in food retail so he will continue working. I don’t expect I’m much different to anyone else, but with one thing and another my head is fried.

I would sooner spend my day with a handful of mates than with thousands of strangers coming into the store I work at. But I have to work, and my employer keeps encouraging these people by selling them food and toilet rolls.
I will make a non essential journey tomorrow when I get on a crowded train to go to the swimming baths. Obviously, I will wash my hands after I get out of the pool.

Yes, get a visit from someone who has visited 50 other people on his shift before coming to your house. Really Smart.
The virus lives on surfaces for 72 hours, so going shopping at 9:30pm to social distance is a bit pointless. Hundreds of people will have used that trolley/basket throughout the day. Anyone going shopping is therefore acting irresponsibly.

Mr BM is higher risk. Consequently we are not going out. I have been out for supplies but kept my distance and employed rigorous hygiene.
Anyone who adopts "I'm ok and I'll do what I want" is just bloody irresponsible.
I'm not sure why people are adopting an "i am ok" mentality. You might be; but you may pass onto someone else.

Yes I will (and have been since the beginning of this month as I'm well into the at risk group). But it's getting increasingly difficult with delivery schedules filling up or closing altogether in many cases.
I absolutely agree with your "duty bound" outlook, but sadly the egocentric "It's OTT" ostriches will undermine our efforts.

If things pan out as in this graph, it is going to get as bad if not worse than Italy.
