I had this brilliant idea last night but when I woke up it didn't sound so good but now it's getting better again. So I'll just run it by you if you don't mind.

I recommend a series of primary elections then a general vote with a college of the wise allocated a certain number of votes to cast for the two candidates left in the running.
The popular vote only being used to make members feel that they're in some way contributing to the eventual outcome but is essentially meaningless window dressing.
A threshold of 270 should be enough to have one or other declared the winner.
Simple and uncontroversial.

Off the top of my head, roy, I'd either have Naomi because she's very, very, clever and thinks just like me.
Or Gulliver, because I like the way he ploughs his own furrow with not a passing hoot for any criticism.
Maybe Dougal if he stopped with all the anti-Donald stuff and got back to his quips which are very good, imo.
