Given that you can tell the time from your phone, I pad, cooker, fridge and TV etc do you really need one, if so why?

It fascinates me that Theland thinks that some of us take our cookers and fridges out with us. TTT takes a kettle but they're not inconveniently big.

Fine, let me know where you go and I'll pop along and get one.
ok I used my savings to buy one, I still have my savings x N, see?
Couldn't leave the house without one many years ago but since the early 2000s I stopped wearing them. My watch strap broke and I didn't bother with a new one. I use my phone but last year I got a smart watch tracker which I love.
there is usually a waiting list anyway.
Breitling for me (it was a gift for my 50th) - you get used to the weight of it on the wrist. For formal business meetings or 'events', I have a plain gold-rimmed, blue-sapphire cabochon on the winder, a white dial with black Roman numbers, black strap Tiffany - also a present, this for my 40th. It's more of an elegant piece....
A reputable watch says something about the wearer when you move in certain circles. Some of my clients like to associate with people of a certain standing and a watch (along with other items) gives them the reassurances they are looking for regarding reputation and standing.

agree Zac - cufflinks and good (polished) shoes too....however one does appreciate the Texan phrase, 'he (or she) is all hat and no cattle.'
I’ll remember that one, DT.
I've got 3 that I haven't wore for years, maybe 20+
Zacs, if I was judging someone's 'standing', the watch is something I wouldn't bother looking at - it tells the time, that's it, and if someone has more money than sense to pay out for an expensive one, that would be a point against.

Fortunately I have never moved in circles where such shallow pointless assumptions and judgements are made, and doubt I ever will.
Always.

I buy cheap ones from Amazon and throw them away when the battery stops.

I bought 5 of these Casio watches in one go about 3 years ago, and I'm now on the second one.

I wouldn't feel dressed without a watch.
Please give a few examples of disreputable watches.

I don't want to miss any footpads and cut-purses on my travels.
Jesus Andy, you could cause an argument in a phone box.

I’m not rising to your stupidly naive view of life.
Yes, I have a lovely watch. Gold with sparkly bits around the face. It's very pretty and I wear if for social occasions, so obviously not worn it much lately!

I guess that's why there is a need for buying the new iphone 243 four months after buying the iphone 242.
Apparently i cant wear one, why? My body has too much electricity. Thats what i was told after taking countless watches back for repair.
An iPhone is the equivalent of a VW Golf. Classless.
I watch, sorry.
Always where a black or brown leathered small watch. Feel lost without it.
I read that men who don't or like wearing a watch are child like :-)
My husband doesn't always wear one....
