Well, it's the usual conundrum - which is more likely, that the universe is self-sufficient, or that god is self-sufficient? Those who love to seek truth continue to probe nature for clues. Others postulate a God, who is considered by some as a sensible answer to a big question, but who takes the place of truth and simply saves people the bother of thinking, and gives them a bit of peace. Ah, bless!

As I always say, belief in God is fine whichever one you believe in, it's when you push those beliefs onto others, especially ones who have alread said they don't share your faith, that I have a problem. That, and the constant derision of those with opposing views Khandro.

Assigning a reason to that you don't yet understand is not unreasonable. Belief in a particular god that did it all may not be rational though.

Have you ever wondered why, given infinite arrangements, some situations are almost certain to have precise mathematical laws ? Most likely all situations inevitably have. Have you reflected on the lack of need for design ? Or the lack of logic in assigning an intelligent creator to it all ? Sanity 101.

'' God is a human invention,'' and similar statements, are totally worthless coming from anybody who has not given at least some cursory study time to the subject.
Its similar to dismissing a political party without thoroughly examining its policies, that is, driven by laziness and smugness.
Credit where its due, some learned and dogged atheists post on here, and sadly, atheists from the other end of the spectrum are also well represented.
Brilliant scientists have narrowed down the possible scenarios of the infant universe to just possibly three, but can not escape the problem of, ''nothingness,'' always needing that first miraculous push from, ''something,'' unless of course you agree with the concept of abandoning the laws of cause and effect and attribute this to quantum field theory.
Even then, the argument is only dealing with the, ''how,'' and not the, ''why,'' which is something I imagine would be of great importance to those who study, ''reason.''

Our computers and phones are nothing more than devices for taking in information, storing it, and then sending it on when required.
They do not actually create information.
This always comes from a mind.
So what is a reasonable assumption for the creation of information, as found in, for example, the 3.5bn bits of information in the human genome?
All of it is copied, but from where did it originate?

An unrealistic analogy. I can see and hear the leaders of political parties. There is nothing tangible in imaginary beings. No, belief in God is not reasonable.

Theland, there’s no rationality whatsoever in ascribing anything to something for which there is no evidence. Still, keep imagining. You never know, might come up with a more tangible solution - or at least find the courage to be honest and say you don’t know.
