For me it was a day to reflect on what this virus has done , on a personal level it was a day to remember our friend Michael ( 53) who lost his life to it in November
I’m the same Dave, no need for it at all. Don’t we all remember people we’ve lost in our own personal ways?
I don’t think a memorial is a good idea either, who wants reminding of it, not me.
Since we’re told that this virus isn’t going away, the idea of a monument is monumentally ridiculous. What will it commemorate? Those who have died - and those who are yet to die of Coronavirus?
People are born, they die and that is tragic but happens, so why not grieve on a limited and personal level without this visual outflow of emotion as seems to be so prevalent on AB.
If someone close to me died of Covid, then there may wellbe ashore period of reflection, but for people that I have never met, that reflective period is transitory.
Sorry.......just get on with it.
The other significant day of remembrance has never been confined to a single event, or to something that is wholly in the past. Why should this one be?
