This is fascinating...amazing what some grad students get up to during lockdown...
He's an archaeology student and has an interest in linguistics.
I listened first without the captions turned on...it was making sense by the 1700s

Thanks for that Pasta - really fascinating and I loved the anecdotes. I've just forwarded it to one of my grandsons who has a linguistics degree.
Brilliant, loved it - all the strands that came through from all across Europe and the UK, I even heard words said just as my Grandparents would say them in broad Lancashire.

I really need to listen to it again, so I can concentrate on the changes.

I listened to the nearly 20 minutes of it, didn't understand a word - wondering how to regain that 20 mins of my life _ I should have gone out for a walk really, was a nice evening
