What Would Be An Example Of What Would Make Someone Seem Shifty?
52 Answers
I know Shifty goes a little further than Shady meaning it’s not just that you can’t figure them out but suspect they’re dishonest and up to no good, but rather they are constantly shifting their ground and so it is more obvious and virtually certain that they are dishonest, untrustworthy or crafty and up to no good, so what would be a few examples of behaviors: verbal or actions that would show that the person is blatantly shifty?

I was adopting a "guilty until proved innocent" attitude to your line of questioning here, I got it wrong. We get a lot of spammers and trolls here on this site. I knew you were American and this site is UK based so misunderstandings happen ...cross cultural differences and all.
It's nearly 5am here so I need to turn in.
G'night.

Ok goodnight sweet dreams and totally understandable about the misunderstanding I am glad I cleared that up. Okay I will just leave this here to be answered whenever you are ready, just now that you know I’m all good can you answer my earlier question and give an example of something that would give you a vibe that a person is shady as in might have ulterior motives and dishonesty?
Googlewerenonelp ok now that we understand each other and our aspergers I wanted to if you don’t mind get your answer on my final question as you said an example of shifty is looking uncomfortable because they are hiding something and so I also wanted an example of something that to you would make the person seem shady as in having ulterior dishonest motives.
Well I could give my opinion but it might not be any more valid than what you have already figured out. Here's a real life example:
I was in a pub (bar) somewhere far from where I live, alone, a bit insecure, so I brought with me a book just in case I couldn't cope socially. I bought myself a beer, sat down at a big table and looked around me. There were a few people dotted around including someone who looked a bit "shady", a gothic looking guy with a mop of jet black hair, on his own sharing the same table as me. From my peripheral vision I could see that he was staring at me, it freaked me out so I opened the book and started reading it in between sips of beer, all the time noticing that gothic floppy black haired stary guy was still staring at me. After a while, I looked up and his intense stare met me eye to eye, then he said "That's a great book ...if you can make it past the first 100 pages!" He was exactly right, I was struggling through it and I agreed. Next thing I knew, we were in full conversation, some of his friends joined us and ...to my surprise, I had made a bunch of friends.
