You might but many wouldn't.
//But I'd say yes life is immeasurably better that 12 years ago.//

In what respect, Tora? I'm intrigued.
Gulliver it’s called going on holiday and there’s thousands more doing it after having a taste of restrictions on them, it’s called an extra 10 seconds multiplied by 1000s to have our passports stamped now we’re out of the EU ( no regrets for me there ) and it’s called French Border controls being arsey, all adds up to long queues at our ports

And many would naomi… What’s the point of having more money if public services are terrible?

Which public services in particular are you talking about?
More removed answers?
Did someone call me a ‘gutless sheet bag’ again like he did yesterday? Lol.

Good luck with your question to him New Judge, see my previous post on this thread.

NHS, mental health services and policing come to mind as the big ones… i don’t think having slightly more money is worth much if you can’t get a GP appointment and the country can’t be policed properly
12.38 One only has to wait an extra 10 seconds in the queue to have your passport stamped.
It's a little early for a drop of "you know what "Bobbi.
12 years ago the public had confidence in politicians ( some of them )
Today the public don’t trust politicians ( some of them ) .

I don’t think many people trusted politicians 12 years ago anneasquith!
Untitled 12.45. Don't think many trust them today either.
Where did all the rose-bespectacled ABers disappear to?
Compiling their lists for New Judge or preparing to answer my post no doubt?
Shouldn’t take too long either way! Lol.
Gully has no reasonable answer so Gully resorts to insults, it like trying to debate with a 5 yr old!

There's more to all of that than money, untitled. This government has chucked endless money at the NHS but with dire management it wastes millions and it has done for years. The police too need pulling up by their boot straps but society is such that they CAN'T police properly even if they want to. Cries of 'Human Rights' and police brutality abound - never forgetting the grooming gangs ignored for years - during Labour's term of office too - for fear of upsetting the Muslim community. Even the eco protestors sticking themselves to roads and trains and causing havoc for everyone around are pussyfooted around. Money isn't the problem in any of that.

I think the Welfare State has relieved those who want to be burden-free of their personal responsibilities. Instead of taking responsibility for themselves they expect and demand that society does it for them.

Frankly I think there are plenty who play the victim but I don't think people in general are too badly off at all - enough seem to want to come here even from other parts of Europe, so it can't be so very terrible.
13.09 Implying that there is only a 10 second delay for Travellers to get their passports stamped did give me the impression that you had been frequenting
"The Travellers Rest " a little too often Bobbi.

We disagree on the causes of those problems naomi but I appreciate your thoughtful answer...

... i actually think the severe cuts to mental health services and social support generally has had a more serious impact on policing in this country than anything else in the last 12 years...
police are constantly firefighting the extreme end of this country's mental health and addiction crises when they are not the appropriate service for it... relatedly lots of seriously ill people end up in prison when that simply isn't the right place for them - but there's nowhere else because so many mental health services have been closed.

i do agree that money is not the only problem in the NHS but the conservative reforms have made it so much worse. It is absolutely full of third party companies who overcharge enormously for low-value outsourcing... much of the money invested gets eaten up by them...

and that is before you get to the DWP which treats vulnerable people with far more cruelty and duplicity than it did in 2010
