I've just asked one of my grandchildren, he is 7, if he plays cowboys and Indians. He has no idea what I'm talking about, he has never seen a cowboy and Indian film.

It's not at all strange IMHO. Neither is it true. I am not aware of children's pretend games being proscribed except by the parents on an individual basis, not generally unless in public possibly.

When I worked in the NHS from 1980s to 2000 we had a few transgender patients. Back then they didn't shout it from the rooftops but just got quietly on with their treatment .
