Anyone remember Barry Mackenzie, and the days when Earls Court was full of Australian dentists?

I think I was referring to the original comic strip, not some later filmed version. I'm older than you think, Buen...!
Question Author
Buen; do you kmow where that was filmed? It looks a bit like the Troubadour on Old Brompton Road. At least it looked like that from the dressing room, which was in the coal hole under the pavement A bloody death trap for the artistes!!)
The one eyed trouser snake.

Well, Barry lived on as the inspiration for Sir Les Patterson!
"What are you all staring at? I know what you're staring at; you're staring at my penis! What!!?? No, my pianist; that lovely guy who's playing all the accompaniments for me tonight!"
At least one pub scene was filmed at the Kings Head, 17 Hogarth Place, Earl's Court, Atheist. (I can't find any reference to The Troubadour having been used as a filming location).

Question Author
Buen; thanks. I don't remember the Kings Head, but I wouldn't would I?
I do remember Manolos in Fulham Road, which was a wine bar that stayd open well after time (for favoured guests) so that muso's had somewhere to go for a slice of tortilla and a dozen bottles of spanish red, and flamenco guitar from the hunchback proprietor and flamenco dancing from his hunchfront wife. Those were the days!
Barry Humphries playing Edna Everage was the only time I have enjoyed watching a man performing as a woman.
I don't consider it a drag act.

Me too, Hoppy!
