Is Religion Dying Out?
HAVE you given up on organized religion?
People are becoming disillusioned with organized religion for a variety of reasons.
WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS:

john 15 19
1f you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world,+ but I have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.+

Who do you think the chosen are?
I hope so.
TTT //I hope so.//

Why?
Three new Christian churches have been built recently in my locality, none of them traditional CofE. They have thriving congregations and do great work in the community. The Roman Catholic churches well represented, too

The mosques, temples and synagogues are similarly well attended, as are three Kingdom Halls.
My own CofE church has merged with its neighbour so the congregation is healthy.

Fewer people may go to places of worship today but more go because they want to, not because they are expected to. Surely that is a positive.
10:39 I would have thought that was obvious, because religion is the cause of most of the problems.
God alone knows
//Is Religion Dying Out? // very much doubt it
Globally, unlikely. The west may gradually be getting more enlightened (with the risk of throwing out all spiritual considerations along with the bathwater) but rapidly growing populations elsewhere seem to be very keen on their particular myth(s) still.
TTT //religion is the cause of most of the problems.//

The usual trope dished out by the naive.

The biggest problems in the world today (you name 'em) say... the war in Ukraine, pollution, overpopulation, illegal immigration, the lowering of standards on AnswerBank, none of these have anything to do with religion.
Khandro, funny how only people who disagree with you are 'naiive'.
remember They used have some twin towers in New York Khandro? Wonder what happened to them.
"funny how only people who disagree with you are 'naiive'."

To be fair, that is by no means unique to Khandro!

Anyone who disagrees with ynnafanny is an 'eidjit', anyone who disagrees with TTT is a fifth columnist, etc.

There's little point complaining about it, because you and the other mods, and the Eds permit it - some might even say encourage it...
not true jim I only call people 5C when they demonstrate the symptoms.
Both the bible and the Koran encourage the murder of unbelievers. That's not very tolerant is it?
TTT The twin Towers were not attacked BY religion.

Bin Laden orchestrated the attacks for the simple reason that the USA was supporting Israel his enemy, support which was NOT religion-based. He misguidedly believed that it was only doing so because of a hatred of Islam.
I won't speak for the Koran (though I've read it).
But who was the last person to read the bible & then go out & kill someone because of it?
Certainly organised religion.
A lot of people are waking up to this cruel nonsense. A snare & a racket. I think that's why Big Brother is upon us, as the earthly powers that be know this. People need to be controlled. Putting the fear of 'God' into us.
As for John 15, 19, it reads, 'them and us' which in my view, is a bad mind set to be in.

12:39, Perlease, it was based in religion, you say so yourself.
12:42, there have been Christian atrocities, yes they are less common but it's still in the user guide.
Is that instruction in The Bible to be found in the Old Testament? I can't remember ever being enjoined to kill an unbeliever.
//The biggest problems in the world today (you name 'em) say... the war in Ukraine, pollution, overpopulation, illegal immigration, the lowering of standards on AnswerBank, none of these have anything to do with religion.//

I believe the Roman Catholic church may have a little responsibility for the overpopulation you mention.
