Cases like this are always so terribly sad. I feel so sorry for him. Is it time to re-visit the question of legitimising assisted suicide?

These cases are so sad and my heart goes out to the families involved. It is such a minefield, how to protect the vulnerable from someone who just doesn't want them there any more.

I think each case has to be assessed individually, but I do see a time when assisted suicide will be legal in the UK.

To this my answer is always the same. I agree 100% with all the historical cases that are mentioned in relation to this argument, they were deserving of the right to die. Sadly if we make it legal, the right to die will become the obligation to die. Old, sick, ill etc people will be getting guilt-ed into it. Pretty soon you'll have grannies being marched up the the exterminators so their relatives can claim their inheritance. I just don't trust human nature with this. The law is as it is for a reason.

Better to have legal assisted suicide with proper assessment and monitoring than to have anyone go through this.

I can't imagine anyone having to live with the consequences of a botched suicide attempt or the guilt of assisting a loved one to end life when there has been no hope left.
