that feels a bit sorry for him, yes he was a knob, yes he should apologise but he seems at the moment being blamed for all the societal wrongs in spain and in sport

I'm inclined to feel a little sorry for him, but if he had immediately apologised AND resigned from his position, would he have largely saved himself from the opprobrium he now has received.
I think it’s over the top. Hysteria reigns.
But it is not right a stranger grabs you & proceeds to land smackers on you just because he is happy.
I wouldn't like it.
The apology should have been enough for all reasonable people, but he's being used for a different aim. To sway the culture in Spain. He kissed at the wrong place at the wrong time and is now pretty much a victim. Protesters should realise they are bullying and switch to other forms of protest.
It has been blown out of proportion but he needs to be punished in some way.

This is his mum https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66637880
It's not out of perspective at all. As I implied on a previous thread, say I received a large cheque and grabbed my postwoman by the head and forced a mouth-to-mouth contact on her in gratitude, that would be a serious sexual assault IMHO.

For a leading figure and role model to do it is even more reprehensible and to defend his actions is to support the misogynistic attitude so prevalent amongst male society even today.

He deserves all the flak he is getting.
that basically he can smooch whomever he likes on camera even men ( not children, I do have standards)

we can ignore it

and get on with achieving world peace, climate change and the war in Ukraine
For goodness sake ,once again the world goes mad. Of course he didn't ask her if it would be ok to kiss her like he did but it seemed to be done just in the heat of the moment. She is making a 'meal' out of this.
Yep it's all gone a bit radio.
He definitely should have apologised, I really can’t understand why he hasn’t, he’s made it all a whole lot worse for himself by not apologising.
I would seriously hate being grabbed by the head and kissed on the mouth like that by him or anyone else.
And what’s with the crotch grabbing?? A very unpleasant man.
He was a bit exuberantly emotional with a lot of the players. See the video here:

When I saw it, I thought he'd probably getting away with it if he apologised. But then the clip of him grabbing his crotch, near the Spanish queen and her teenage daughter, a few minutes before the kiss, put a different light on it - the guy obviously has a problem, associating sex with celebration:

And then the bizarre press conference, saying that the kiss was consensual ... anybody involved in that needs to go. They are clueless.

What a shame that the men of the Spanish FA has tarnished the achievement of the Spanish women that won the world cup.
