We are Christians. We believe that salvation comes only through. Acts 4:12. Jesus Christ, Myth: You miss out on the “Christmas spirit” of generosity, peace on earth, and goodwill toward men.
Fact: We strive to be generous and peaceable every day. (Proverbs 11:25; Romans 12:18) For example, the way we conduct our meetings and preach is in harmony with Jesus instruction: “You received free, give free.” (Matthew 10:8) In addition, we direct attention to God’s Kingdom as the true hope for peace on earth.—Matthew 10:7. There is no proof that Jesus was born on December 25; his birthdate is not recorded in the Bible, We believe that Christmas is not approved by God because it is rooted in pagan customs and rites.—2 Corinthians 6:17.

There is no proof of anything written in the bible.
Like all fervents, you simply cherry-pick the bits that suit what you think, and ignore the rest, or decry it as 'untrue'.
That's equivalent to dismissing Hansel and Gretel as 'not true', but embracing Little Red Riding Hood because you like good to win in the end.
Whatever blows your skirts up ...

Let's be honest with ourselves we all wish to know .if there is a creator or not but when you look around and see all the wonderful things which goes on in creation. And the Marvellous many of stars in the sky how they rotate how they stay in place .you cannot say nobody created those things, it's like walking through woods. And then come and across a house which has been built. And you look up and say there's a house for me. You don't enquire, who it belongs to, or where it comes from, from the beginning, therefore someone had to create it or make it or build it, only logic, tells you, that, someone had to build it, there is a supreme being in the sky or in the heavens directing and keeping things in Motion
This rise in temperature has already changed the climate and brought disastrous consequences. The Bible foretold that “fearful sights,” or terrifying events, would occur in our day. Climate change has generated terrifying weather events around the globe. Today, some people suffer from eco-anxiety—a chronic fear of environmental doom.
Locust - Your analogy does not stand up to even casual scrutiny.
I know what a house is, where they come from, how they are made - there is no element of mystery whatsoever.
The same cannot be said of the universe. Just because it is vast and complex does not automatically mean that 'someone created it' - that is wishful thinking to prop up your belief.
Imagining something doesn't make it real, if it did, unicorns would roam the earth.
Let's be honest with ourselves. Of couse we can say that nobody needs to have made it. It is explained more and more, as we uncover more understanding, by natural phenomena. Actual design by some intelligent entity has been shown an unnecessary complication a long time ago. Only those who are incredulous insist on refuting that because they refuse to believe the evidence and desperately point to anything yet explained as justification for their scepticism.
Simplistic me is not going to get complicated over this - I understand about adapting pagan festivals, uncertainty as to the exact bithdate of Jesus etc.. It doesn't matter - it is a celebration of God coming into our world; a light in the darkness etc.. You don't have to be religious to celebrate goodness in any form and millions of non-religious people recognise this and celebrate Christmas accordingly. Certainly the Muslim pupils in schools I've taught in celebrated Christmas.
Whatever; I've spent the last 2 Sundays playing organ in a crowded little 11th Century church - very many people I've never seen before. The happiness and good spirit engendered has been palpable - can't be bad.
Happy Christmas everybody. :)
Old Geezer It is explained more and more
Many people claim that science disproves the Bible’s account of creation Bible, but between science and the opinions of Christian Fundamentalists. A careful study of the Bible text reveals no conflict with established scientific facts Genesis does not teach that the earth and the universe were created in six 24-hour days just a few thousand years ago, The implication is profound. According to the Bible’s opening words, the universe, including our planet, Earth, was in existence for an indefinite time before the creative days began. Does the wording of Genesis support this conclusion? No, it does not. The fact is that the Hebrew word translated “day” can mean various lengths of time, Genesis 1:5 Here, only a portion of a 24-hour period is defined by the term “day.” Certainly, there is no basis in Scripture for arbitrarily stating that each creative day was 24 hours long. The Bible’s narrative allows for the possibility that some major events during each day, or creative period, occurred gradually rather than instantly, perhaps some of them even lasting into the following creative days.b It Designed?” These brief articles highlight the awe-inspiring engineering evident in creation and identify ways that man has tried to copy the Master Designer. We received additional material to help bring glory to God, Was Life Created? How much information does DNA contain? Your body, for instance, is made up of about 100 trillion cells. ?
Locust - You are doing what every fervent of any faith does - bending your religious text to fit what you want to believe.
It can, and is, done in dozens of ways.
Eastern psychopaths twist to Koran to excuse murdering non-believers, it's easy, absolutely anyone else can do it with any book.
Mark Chapman used 'Catcher In The Rye' to motivate him to murder John Lennon, it's easy, anyone can do it.
But doing doesn't make it fact. It makes it what you want to believe.
Nothing more than that.
