There is no easy answer to the problem of dealing with difficult staff, apart from lining them up and shooting them.
You don't say in what way they are being difficult. Do you have a particular instance or example in mind?
In which way are they being difficult?
It's very difficult when they all cover up for each other.

In 2002, my wife was subjected to a two month campaign of hate, abuse and threats by a former 'friend' of ours. This woman works in our local hospital and it turned out that she was jealous of us being married and happy. We did know that this woman has a history of criminal damage, criminal assault, making threats etc. but we were prepared to overlook that and welcome her in our home.

The final straw for this individual was when we said we were going to Paris for a week. That initiated a flood of texts and phone calls to my wife, many from the hospital on their phones while she was at work.
We didn't want to go to the police, so we went to see the PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison) officer at the hospital who insisted that she make an official complaint for us. The result of the NHS inquiry was that this woman's manager sent us a short letter saying she was satisfied the abuse was taking place in her employee's own time so it couldn't involve the NHS!

The calls continued and we eventually went to the police with nine recordings. The police rolled their eyes and said "not her again". They then went to see this woman and assured us that she would leave us alone or she would be prosecuted yet again. That finally did the trick and we have heard no more.

However, this awful woman is still in post at the hospital dealing with the public. That despite the NHS knowing of the case and her criminal history and she was also in the paper last year for claiming benefits while working!
What makes us sick is that the hospital has so many posters up saying that abuse of staff will not be tolerated. Blair has even said that abused staff can now claim compensation of 1000 pounds! Yet there is nothing to say that staff can't abuse patients and when they do it's whitewashed!

Sorry to go on penanglad, but it was bad at the time and

Sorry, I've read the question properly now and I think I answered something else - new glasses etc! I rambled on a bit because it is still a sore point now after four years.

I'll go back to sleep now - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
