Some of you may or may not know of this, but if you've served in the British forces, Army, Navy Air Force, National Servicemen, this also includes forces from other countries that have served alongside the British forces.

Its an Excellent badge, if you think you may possibly qualify, the freephone number is 0800-1692277, Veterans Agency. If you do qualify, and they'll tell you, its free, not even p&p.

You can download a form from their website, print a copy to complete details and post. I received my badge within a fortnight.
My ex husband was in the RAF for 12 years and a volunteer Party leader in the RAF Mountain Rescue team, he saved the lives of several sheep and a few SAS Officers out of hereford on training exercises in the Brecon beacons, would he qualify, he came out in 1982. I shall go to the site and check it out.
It's only available to those who served in WWII or between between 3 September 1945 and 31 December 1969, and is NOT available to those from other countries.

Waldo, I spoke to a lady on the phone. its been updated, I qualified, and have recieved mine, I served from 1966-76, another criteria now included, is that you don't have to have seen active service, so dotty, its possible your ex might qualify, use the number I posted, its quickest, and you'll be able to find out.

that sounds brilliant Lonnie, i have just phoned my ex and told him and he knew nothign about it even though he regularly goes to the MR reunions in Wales, he will ring tomorrow, his brother was a 22YR pti IN THE ARMY CAME OUT AS STAFF s AND SO HE IS RINGING HIM AS WELL, I WILL LET U KNOW HOW IT WORKS OUT.

If nothing else it will be a little piece of family history for them to pass on, my Grandad had three medals, he had a Somme medal and the WW1 service medal and another, they vanished after he died and despite alot of effort noone seems to know where they went, and i know direct descendants can get copies but now my Mum is dead i don't think it can skip a generation.

I've just been on gthe phone, the nice lady said they are not going to issue any post 1945 badges due to the huge demand, but to wait until the end of Feb and call again
