Not quite sure this is the right section to post this question in, but recent reports suggest that British people are flocking to live abroad. Would you want to live abroad, and if so where - and why?

I think too many of those whingy people have already arrived in the UK and a foreign country would be a much better option. Don't have any preference to where though! The only thing stopping me is family! My mum would be gutted if I left the country. I live 230 miles away from her and that's bad enough!
My cousin and his wife moved to Spain 4 yrs ago, and he has never really settled.
The practical problems, such as health care, buying his property, banks, taxes, have been a nightmare for him.
If it could go wrong, it did.
He comes home to stay with his family twice a year, and says he doesnt feel as though he belongs in either country.
I think he would like to return here, but cant go through doing it all in reverse.

Ive lived in Spain now for 6 years, and really the only thing what spoils it is the type of people that come to live here from the UK!! learning the language is the main problem, if you speak and understand spanish your half way there. I can go for a walk here on my own without the threat of being mugged, their health system is far superior than the UK. I pay the same council tax for a year that my sons pay a month, and yes again for a better service, bins emptied every day!!!
