As I understand it, if the government went crazy, the Queen could step in and take control of affairs.

Now, if the Queen went crazy and decided to step in and take control, could any one legally (emphasis on legally) stop her, overthrown her etc etc?

Not only could it happen but it has - not with the Queen but with King George III.

In 1789 and 1811 parliament passed the Regency acts that made the future George iV regent

Since the Armed Forces and the Police ALL vow before god their allegiance to the queen and Not to the country or its people ,she can do what she likes.
The sooner the better. get rid of those money grubbing, lying ba**ards of politicians who are only out to line their pockets and care nothing for any one else.
