when did pubs in the uk stop closing at 3pm and re open at 6.30pm, and were allowed to remain open all day?

Yes,
1988, during the summer, I seem to remember.
I lived in a pub in LLanrwst in North Wales during the year 1989 and we used to shut for the afternoon and open for the evening cos when i came home from work i used to go behind the bar and nick all the ham rolls and get pints of coke!! But that was LLanrwst.......
