Robert J Father was born in 1898, and after attending art school he became a graphics illustrator for a large greetings card company. One of his talents was to suggest to his employers all sorts of obscure events and occasions for which people could send cards to their friends and aquaintances, such as 'Happy Birthday, Auntie', 'Good luck in your New House',and 'Merry Christmas to the Dog'.
So successful was he, that on his retirement, the company decided to reward him by issuing a new card to celebrate the anniversary of his birth. And that's how we come to remember him every Fathers Day.
