Doc, the world went mad a few years ago now, It just gets madder by the day!

If anyone ever calls me Ms, i 'll go nuts! What a horrible, made up title!
Pour me one will ya!
The world really has gone barking mad. It was said a few years ago that yorkshire pudding could only be called that if it was made in Yorkshire etc. which I thought was crazy at the time. Now they've gone one step futher over the edge and decided that we can no longer eat "shepherd's pie" because it doesn't contain any shepherds!!! and for the same reason we can no longer eat fairy cakes !!!!!!!!!!

Oh my God! Who comes up with this stuff.

Poor me a vodka please Doc.

Doubles all round.
Do you know I was actually "ticked off" for asking for a black coffee,I should have said "coffee no milk" in my local coffee shop. Did I buy the coffee? you bet your sweet a$$ I didnt.
Yes the world is mad!!
Strangely enough blackboards (or chalkboards..never heard them called that!) have been replaced by wipe clean 'white boards'.

Nobody is forced to be called 'Ms'. It is a personal choice, and of course those who choose to be known by Ms are happy with it :o)

My dad is on the board at his local sports centre. The 'Chairperson' is a woman, and she is known as 'Madam Chairman'.

And as far as I know, after all the hoo-hah surrounding naming Spotted Dick 'Spotted Richard' I can still buy the labelled Spotted Dick in my supermarket. I can also buy black coffee in the cafe. My friend jokingly referred to her son as 'without milk' after he was born...being black, she is most amused at the media hype surrounding PC bunkum ;o)
PC doesn't exist. It's just anti-PC people constantly bringing up old debunked arguments.
Apparently Baa Baa Black sheep is now Baa Baa Blue sheep in nurseries around the country.
Sometimes I imagine people coming up with these things just to see how far they can go before we turn - like Big Brother on the larger scale (not the tv programme). So far we haven't really. And is the term "whiteboards" allowed, if "blackboards wasn't?
I thought they were called dry wipe boards. The pens are certainly dry wipe markers.
if they want to be really correct, then technically, given that black is a colour, a blackboard is actually black... a black person is not actually black, they are various shades of brown - never actually genuinely the colour black... so perhaps instead of changing nursery rhymes and names of coloured objects, the people who decide this is racist need to come up with a new term for ''black'' people, after all we don't call chinese people yellow or native americans ''red'' anymore as people used to in the old days, so why has this one stuck?

and while i am at it, i may be pale skinned but my skin is not ''white'' so perhaps a new term for ''white'' too... peach colour or pink, perhaps...?

regarding all the chairperson stuff, perhaps they should just change the spelling to chairmun or min or mon or m'n, make it a word in itself, like they have with wimmin - so that there is no need for all these new titles... though i suppose thats not necessarily easier or simpler

don't like madam chairman at all
nor wpc and pc - the fact that it always has to be assumed male unless stated otherwise, is quite odd... should be mpc or fpc - male and female.

the problem with all this stuff it that it may seem pointless and petty and unecessary, but it does need to happen.
some are indeed silly, but these subtle changes are important to ensure that women are treated fairly and equally.
the world is still riddled with sexism and bias and it needs to be addressed, and though it will not really mean much to us in our lifetime, out kids kids etc will feel the benefit.

subconsciously these things affect out behaviour whether we like it or not, women are still viewed by many as second best in business and in life - and the worst kind of sexism and bias is the type that people arent even aware they have, because they can't and won't adress the problem.

having said all that, i will
Has anyone met anyone who agrees with any of this? Ever? Seriously?
Has anyone met someone who said "I really believe that we should not call blackboards that anymore". I certainly never have. I have met plenty of people complaining about the 'PC brigade' though.
You see stories about 'PC gone mad' maybe once or twice a month in the national press. Why do you think it gets in the paper? Because it's normal everyday activity? Or because it's a sensational headline because the proposed change is patently absurd? It's definitely the latter.

If everyone just quit banging on about PC gone mad, it wouldn't exist, simple as that.
cut me off, meant to say, i will not lose any sleep over it
I can see where Nick's coming from actually. The press could make this stuff up in order to fill column space and to arm racist simpletons with further labels to throw at any respectable citizens that object to their demented superficial and ignorant ramblings about white supremacy and the "tide of assylum seekers and illegal immigrants" rather than waking up to the fact and perparing for the inevitable influx of water refugees from barron desert countries caused by global warming. Wonder why they don't start reporting real news? Oh wait a minute, if they reported the facts and allowed an influx of people then there'd be nobody left in the poorer countries to enslave and use to their own greed fueled ends. Pass the bottle would you please Doc?
To think people get paid loads of tax payers cash to think up all this PC rubbish , don't remember any of before Mr Blair got in , also who decided that bananas should be straight ? The EEC (the people who make tea with tepid water and add hot milk !!!!) Enough said .

thank you all

They may well be called wipe boards, skreechee...although when they were introduced into my high school way back in the early 80's they were indeed 'white boards'.

I bought Fairy Cakes in the supermarket yesterday, and made a cottage pie (beef, not lamb ;o)
