My mum passed away on 18th June 2007. She was 53. I miss her so much I am thinking of going to see a medium in a few months when I feel the time is right for me.

Has anyone been to see a medium and what was it like?

Thank you

I am so sorry to hear your sad news.I really feel for you.I know 2 people who have seen mediums and they both said it helped and they said things noone else knew.If you feel it would help then go and see one.I hope you have family and friends support all around you at a difficult time.hope this helps,Tessa
I am very sorry for your loss. Having had a sibling and a parent die in the past 3 years, I know the pain and loss can feel overwhelming at times.

I have an opinion, but can not know if mediums are in touch with the spirits or whether they are skilled charlatans. Which ever way you think please think carefully about seeing someone at this present time as you are very vulnerable given the very short time ago you mother died.

My advice would be sit at home somewhere comfortable and talk to your mum out loud as well, and allow yourself to recognise and feel what your mother would be saying to you about you, about her and your shared experiences together. You will cry and cry but I believe it is more comforting and less risky approach than you are thinking of.
Hi muchlove

I can understand how you feel but don't make any decisions while your emotions are still so raw. If, down the line, you feel it's something you have to do, research it fully. Don't just pick someone who has glowing testimonials on a website or leaflet - they can be easily faked. Ask around and try to get a reccomendation from someone you know.
People who attend these sessions are there looking for something and charlatans will take advantage of this and prey on the vulnerable. Not saying they are all like that but be careful.
Also, please think how you would feel if you went along with high hopes and got nothing - no message, no contact. you might end up feeling more upset and alone than before.
I'm sorry to be giving you advice rather than an answer to your question. I hope you know it's with the best of intentions. take care. x
So sorry to hear of your loss.
In my youth I saw an acclaimed 'medium' for the experience alone. I'm very sceptical and out of the many things she said, there was only the one sentence I could identify with, and that was about looking out of a window!!

In the past 10 years I've been very good friends with members of the 'mentalism' community: Darren Brown type stuff & have much inside knowledge about how the deceptions are performed, these include knowing personal things about a person you've never met. I can only hint at this but please research the techniques used in 'Coldreading' before you visit any 'medium'.

I don't think you need any medium to feel spiritually connected to your mum. I don't believe in mediums but I've felt very close to people who've left this life already. Feeling your mum is still around & with you in spirit will provide enormous comfort. You don't need a medium to experience this it's on a spiritual level that the mediums words do not compete with.
My sympathies are with you at this very difficult, time, it also helps to talk about it and you are, simply by asking the question above.
i would be hesitant about going to see a medium, thats just personally.

new surroundings in spirit, dear god, good grief, how stupid is that, get real.
Mediums are exploitative people who commit the dreadful cruelty of taking advantage of the vulnerable bereaved. Treat the whole matter with contempt.
Remember your mother and her love as she was when she was alive.
Don't be conned.
Didn't this thread have more answers? Or am I imagining it?
it was done to death yesterday in b and s
Charlatans, the lot of 'em: they can't contact the dead because there is no after life.

Save your money for some nice flowers.
Go to a spiritualist church, the medium wont ask you questions,he or she will tell you. I went as a sceptic after my dad died and I was amazed when the medium pointed to me and told me there was a Father figure by me recently passed and she even described the suit we chose for his funeral and the shirt which she said was one of my dads favourites. She knew what my dads illness was and she also said my dad was glad my brother had his signet ring! This woman was a complete stranger and I told her nothing. you wont find con artistes at a spiritualist church muchlove. Im sorry about your mums passing, its the physical touch you'll miss but she will always be around you. Fenders right. God bless xx
