I think it's horribly sad, for both parties involved. Him for having to buy someone's love (at best) and companionship and her for having to prostitute herself in order to gain a better life.

I was an internet bride. Mr nutgone put in an order from an online catalogue, they picked me out at the warehouse, put me in a box and here I am 10 years later. My guarantee ran out after 12 months, so he's stuck with me for life now. Lucky chap!
