Question on Humour - Quite Likely to cause Offence

Hi All,

We've had a few conversations about humour recently and how subjective it is and how we decide what should be censored.

I saw something today which I admit made me snigger but is in the worst possible taste (I'll put it in the thread). However I consider myself to be a very good and fair minded person.

So I guess my question is do you think that your sense of humour says something about you as a person? Do you think it's possible to be a good person and be able to snigger at my link? Is it too early in the story for this kind of humour? Where do you draw the line in things you laugh at? Do you think you can actually draw a line or sometimes do you just laugh first and then think you shouldn't have done?

Cheers
China

Show us the link, chances are, I'll find it funny, but I've got what we called 'gallows humour'
Be prepared for a backlash tho, someone somewhere will take offence
Yep, that was funny

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. No
4. What crosses my threshold of not being humorous, funny or good taste - very very subjective
5. Yes to both parts
It is funny, made me laugh.

1. Yes
2. No
3. You don't
4. Yes

The test for me is would I distribute (email to others) that link. If you don't think you should send it then I think you have probably laughed because you found it funny, but then were a bit ashamed that you did.

The Mr Man book I would quite happily send on.
Missed question 1 out.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. No

5. Yes
Problem is, humour is nearly always at the expense of someone else, human nature.
sometimes somethings funny and I laugh, but feel guilty after, coz maybe the joke was racist or some other pc which I really agree with but it tickles me anyway. Aw shucks!

I tend to think that if you can't laugh at yourself and the indeed this world we live in then you're not going to survive very long.

That said, I do also have a wicked, dirty and occasionally tasteless sense of humour and often find thigns funny I know I shouldn't!

I maintain I'm a good person!
I thought it was funny

Ah. Well I can honestly say that my flabbers are not gasted but neither is my funny bone tickled.. they're both rubbish jokes. ;0P

Go stand in the corner!
In all honesty, I didnt find it that funny. But then I didnt find it tasteless or offensive. I can see the humour in it, I just didnt get to the outlandish extremity of sniggering.

But if you maintain that you are a good person, then I must be an angel.or a Saint.

I quile like the idea of sauntering around while people scream 'hark' as I go by.

Do you think they could bow as well or is that taking it too far?
