Because of the harsher sounds involved such as 'r and 'ch' - as in Johann Sebastian Bach - you should find swearing in German or in a Scottish accent even more effective!

I adore the word fukc. It's very versitile.... I also like bollox but that's because I like how it sounds... However how you swear helps with the effect. I tend to sound quite non-descript so it's not that effective.

Now my dad is from northern Ireland and I swear to God whem he was younger every other word was a swear word, (to the point that when I told him this he actually said 'I never f'king swear' and did not see the irony), but because of his accent is always sounded a lot better than when I swore. Also, nothern accents sound a lot better when swearing in my experience.

At this point in time I would like to proclaim that I'm actually quite well spoken and try not to swear with every other word!

'F___ off' might be pithy but I prefer the way our continental cousins curse each other. 'Me descargo en la leche de su zapatera madre' seems to carry so much more weight than than mere 'F___ off'.

For those who're unfamiliar with idiomatic Spanish, that translates as 'I sh!t in the milk of your prostitute mother' ;-)
