Just seen outside our local taxi rank that it has had a new sign erected (oooer!) on it's front, and instead of adding digits for the telephone number they've added words, it says.....
"tripple 2"......and so on. Wouldn't you have thought that somewhere along the way, someone, somewhere would have said, before the sign was erected (oooer again!) "ey up, we've/ you've spelt triple wrong" ??
I'd have gone in and mentioned it myself to them- but i was too busy giggling at it.
Remember all those years ago the kefuffle about the Poll tax? Well near us, somone had graffiti'd (I know that's not right!) near us, in big 10 foot letters " SAY NO TO POLE TAX", it was awesome!
I dunno what it is about where I live, must be something to do with the Neanderthals in-breeding or something in the water, but none of 'em can spell, in-fact it's a bonus if they can speak coherently.

Hello Boo, I do think a lot of it is down to the education system where "Content" is more important than the spelling,
It is also getting harder to understand what youngsters are writing as they write everything in "text speak" is that the correct terminoligy? some of it is very funny, but where will it end?
Glad to see it's not just me then, I can cope with spelling errors in typing, like here for example, heck make enough of them myself, but when it's a business, wouldn't you think they'd check, check and double check every typed word?
In a local council office I once pointed out that the notice on the cashier's window was incorrect- "due to the current speight of counterfeit notes...". It was still there the following month! Also- a sign in the library- "New Book's"!!! In a library!! Disgraceful.
There used to a hairdresser near us .One of those really old fashioned biddy places ..ahem .Well she was a lovely lady and used to collect stuff for the local schools for the kids to do art work etc.She once had a huge notice in the window ..
" Collecting for school please leave your used toilet rolls here "
She meant the cardboard inserts ...I think !
