Just found this clip. Poor family wraps up the little kid's Christmas presents in an XBox 360 box, and then films him and laughs out loud when he unwraps the tshirts they actually got him.

Hope he gets a gun next year.

I'll never forget our "present" to Teen Boo several years ago....

Her main 'job' around the house was ironing (seeing as most, if not all, of them were hers) and our iron was slowly but surely giving up the ghost on us just before Christmas. So we bought a new one, wrapped it, and put it under the tree for her. She spent days rattling it in anticipation wondering what it was, and to make it even crueler, we hid her real main presents away so she presumed that this was one heck of a mega gift- her face on Christmas morning was priceless.

They can't afford an x-box, but they have a video camera and by the size of them, didn't lack money for burgers and chocolate - heartbreaking. If you cant afford it or don't believe that your child should have it that is fair enough, but to trick him like that was unbelievably cruel. When he goes on a rampage with a machine gun in a shopping mall in 5 years time, they will say - he was just a normal kid - we didn't do anything.

A few years ago I made the Santa's grotto for the school fayre ( it was a glittertastic glory ) . Gave me an insight into the minds of some very SAD acts out there. Sure made me appreciate my folks though!

RE the Santa's grotto...I had one guy who said tell him he is getting ...... whatever the hot toy was for that year, I said , oh - have you already bought that, you were lucky to get your hands on that ... etc etc . He said NO but he's old enough to know you don't always get what you want in life ... I had to resist the urge to smack him as I was dressed as Santa's helper. That was the tip of the ice-berg ... makes you despair really!

That is terrible sense. I spend the time before Christmas making sure that my kids expectations and reality roughly match before we get into that situation - e.g. I am sure that you would really like XX however that does cost a lot of money and Santa has to get everybody some toys and he may not be able to get you that this year. I know that kids do need to have lessons in life, but some people can be unnecessarily cruel.

I usually offer a choice - we can go into the toy shop and look, as long as you understand that we are not buying anything today, if you don't want to look knowing that you cant have anything, we dont have to go in.

They will always try it on once in the shop, but I just remind them of the deal we struck.

I think that was an evil thing to do to a child. I don't believe that children should get all they want but there are far better ways of getting that message across.

That has just made me cry - that is so cruel! I agree with Annie they sem to be able to afford enough food. The trick they played is low and so very cruel. It makes me so mad.

made me cry too, i cannot believe how cruel some parents can be, that child will never ever forget that. he was so upset by the fact people who supposedly love him could trick him and make him feel that bad, that he was silent. i just wanted to give him a hug and an Xbox . I hope they felt really guilty when they realised how horrible it was, but i guess not or they would not have put it on the internet. there are some nasty parents around.

I bet they got what they wanted for Christmas. I just hope next Christmas they get what they deserve. We should club together and send them some money - chocolate money!

This does remind me of when my youngest (now in his 20s) asked for an Inter City 125 train set for Christmas when he was about four years old. We said we'd see what we could do, but we mightn't be able to afford one. We were seriously struggling then and it was looking like he was going to be disappointed. I took him into a toy shop one day 'for a look around' and he pointed and said, "Mummy, that's the train set I want." I almost wept - what he actually wanted was a small addition to his little wooden, push along train set, costing about �12 (as opposed to the �60 worth of what we thought he'd wanted). Needless to say, that little boy got exactly what he wanted for Christmas that year, and a little more besides. :-)

Whoa there!

Before you all work yourself up into even more of a huff... the parents had bought him an Xbox 360. They played this trick on him because he'd been snooping through their cupboards when they were out and had found the Xbox.

This was to teach him a bit of a lesson. He was given the Xbox later on.

Not that cruel really.
