for definate mate! i was in a "disabled" single mothers house only last week....50" lcd tv. and the best of furniture, new people carrier parked out the front....i've been working nearly 25 years and i'm driving a clapped out mondeo sitting on a busted sofa watching a tv that has push buttons on it.....but then, when did working for a living ever get you anywhere?
Not at all.
I think the culture that has recently developed whereby people want everything for nothing is completely disgusting. What happened to no pain no gain? I am horrified at the sheer laziness and unwillingness of a growing number of people who expect taxpayers to fund their binge drinking and chainsmoking (not that I am against these activities :P - I just believe that if you want to enjoy it, work for it!!)
On the other hand: I am only eighteen and have vowed to always work no matter what, because I was brought up properly. I never wanted to slob around at college or uni like most young people end up doing... so got a full-time job which included training. I will soon be qualified and I am saving for a deposit on a flat so I can move out and be completely independent (now, fingers crossed for a housing market crash so I can find an affordable one!!). I have morals, high self-worth and self-esteem, pride and dignity. These "lazy jobless" are missing out on all the things that make my life well worth living and make me such a content person.
I wonder, who is the real loser here?
I know this must all sound grossly snobbish coming from such a young person but I have such strong views on this subject. Especially as I am not even a British citizen - I have to pay 250 every time I renew my passport for the priveledge of residing in this country to be with my family, can't vote for a new prime minister, and still I pay extortionate amounts in tax to buy some layabout a new flatscreen because he can't be bothered to earn it. But that's a whole different rant ;)
