Can anyone help me with my presentation?
What is Citizen Focused Policng?
Can anyone list 5 functions for promoting Successful Neighbourhood Policing?

There are two obvious reasons:
If anti-social people know that neighbourhood policing is based in a community, they might not want to commit a crime or be anti-social there
Secondly, people living in the community might feel safer.
other reasons might include:
As well as promoting feelings of saftey, it could promote feelings of well-being, as people feel valued by the State, that is they are worth protecting.
The promotion of 'successful' policing is a PR strategy, saying, 'we are worth your taxes'
And fifthly, it might encourage new recruits who want to contribute to something the percieve as 'good' in their community.
I work as a sociologist (reserach fellow) but this is not my area so they are ideas only - I have no references, but any general sociology text should help

Not too sure in what context you are asking, but I would guess that being seen out and about in the area you are working.
Getting to know locals and being able to talk with them, without them being suspicious of your motives.
Getting the trust of youngsters in that area.
Going into Complexes for the elderly and young and socialise with them.
Giving advise when needed and put their minds at rest if anything untowards happens in that area.
Ensure that locals are aware they can approach you for advise and help if needed.
Think quite a lot of local Police Stations can request funding for safety, personal alarms, window alarms for houses, small torches for keyrings etc.
Don't know if this is of any help.

I'm not sure where you've been looking in your struggles - just a simple internet search on "citizen-focused policing " throws up lots of guidance from Home Office and some case studies.

The first site I looked at is:

This says right at the start that there are
five key areas to the citizen-focused policing programme:

� improving the experience of those who have contact with the police
� rolling out a neighbourhood policing approach across all forces by 2008
� effective community engagement � which includes consultation, marketing and communications, and public involvement
� public understanding and local accountability of policing
� organisational and cultural change to bring about increasingly responsive services where feedback from frontline staff and the public is used continuously .

This might be a starting point. The other AB respoonses will also help. Bring it to life with some examples and a mix of seriousness and humour and you'll have a good presentation
