Another time a bloke was getting a right good kicking, Police took ages, they rang me back to say that 2 were on their way were just finishing their cup of tea.
I kid you not.

you phoned 999 to report an injured swan? WTF? hahaha, are you serious? surely the police have got better things to do like catching paedophiles? if it was that much of a hazzard why not just pull it to the side of the road,or if you was that worried about it why did'nt you take it home? 999 is an emergency number for ''HUMANS!'' now write that down and put it next to your phone so you remember in the future! 999 for a swan..........hahaha!

ok brains. bad company i didnt ring 999 cos of a injured swan i rang 999 cos i seen a petrol tanker almost smashes into a car trying to avoid it.its in the middle of a 50 mph road at rush hour.other people in my work also seen cars having to swerve out of the way at speed.so as you say its for humans.who do you think is driving the cars???whos lives are in danger?HUMANS.as for taking it home how do u suggest getting into the middle of a 4 lane road to try to pick a swan?guess that sums up your inteligence
i work for a highway agency and out on a safety inspection of the route came across a herd of cows on the road so we pulled over rang the police and the operator told us someone had already reported it and there were officers on the way, i spent the next 20 mins with a colleague trying to divert cars and wagons all travelling at 60mph around this herd of cows. by the time the police arrived there had been a lot of near miss accidents and i really dont know how the cows hadn't been hit, anyway the 2 officers got out of their car looked at the situation and asked us what we wanted them to do about it and they aren't there to deal with livestock and that we should ring animal control at the local council and then left.
luckily by this point one of our road technicians happened to be passing with a set of temporary traffic lights which we used to close the road and thankfully the farmer turned up with a big stick and got them back into the field.
just shows how lazy the police can be when its breaktime
