When you say recycle do you mean the freecycle website? You can usually get someone to take anything on that site.
Snap Chuck.
Ask at your local chuch perhaps?
What about a local youth club?

Failing that, put it on one of the websites advertising things to be given away.
Sorry, I'm having a senior moment and can't think of the name.
I have 3 unwanted ones in the house. One is about 20 years old too. What with all these trendy Plasma TVs, there must be a tube TV graveyard somewhere.
That's it! Freecycle.
I'm a member of our local freecycle and it is surprising what some people give away. I'm sure you could furnish your whole house.

mrs o -i was having a senior moment too i meant freecycle not recycle !!! perhaps i'll try them again
Glenis, I posted a very similar question a few days ago about a CRT monitor, like you I'd tried freecycle (twice) and charity websites, had no takers, so reluctantly took it to the tip, and there was the graveyard that velvetee mentioned! Piles of TV's, monitors and even complete PC's. Had to restrain hubby from bringing home a computer that he reckons was better than ours! (trying to have a clearout, not accumulate more stuff!)
Such a waste, hope you have better luck than me and find a new home for your TV
With the whole country in the process of converting to digital, is it any surprise that no-one wants an analogue TV?!
as well as freecycle website try gumtree
Quizmonkey - There is no such thing as a Digial TV, it is the tuner which is digital and therefore when connected to a digital to analogue converter will work perfectly well.

But.... TV's are so cheap these days why bother with an old model which will most likely have a small screen in comparison to todays models.

Perhaps the british museum would be interested in such an artifact.
Try your local theatre group, they may be interested in it as a stage prop for an 80's production
