There is no such thing as independence with in the EU, It's like saying you have my own section of the Fore deck on the Titanic, you go where the ship goes mate.
One of the few good things about the EU is that it does make all these petty squables about some sort of percieved autonomy, less and less relevant as our subjugation advances.

Well we did vote for the sweaties in governement and they do still have a little say over things as long as it's alright with the EU. Indeed we did elect MEP's the other week infortunately they seem to have very little power and seem to be controlled by The commission so I think our main subjugators are the commission with a lot of collaboration from the governments of the EU especially our own who seem to let the rest get away with murder and let us get shafted daily at the same time as paying for the show. They have yet to give us a say on whether we'd like to be in this club. Of course we know why because they think they know best and are worried that a majority want out of the EU and into what we signed up for in 1973 and voted on in 1975, a "Common Market" featuring trading agreements and general cooperation. The EU was not what was authorised in 1975.
No and we all know who signed the new EU into agreement without a referendum don't we?
The comissioners are democratic because they are appointed by national governments who have themselves been elected.
It's at least as democratioc as the House of Lords!
The fact remains that the size of the EU gives it teeth that national Governments can only dream of

As I look around where I work, my site has about 250-300 people about half are British.
If we withdrew from the EU the liberal immigration would go, we could not employ these people and the site would fold.
New investment from the US and other countries would have to decide whether to site their European bases in the EU or in a country outside of it.
London (outside of the EU) or Franfurt at it's financial hub?
You don't have to be a business expert to see what would happen.
And when unemployment rose and foreign investment dried up who would all the Little Englanders blame?

By definition in a referendum decision making is done by those of average abilities.
That's why we have a representative democracy where we vote for those with better abilities to make the decisions and to be responsible for them.
And in the judgment of those who lead the main parties, who's job it is to make the best, most informed decisions for this country all agree.

People like me, sitting in the UK working for foreign companies.
If we left the EU many of those jobs would be shifted to countries still in the EU.
My company does not have an office here because they want a foothold in the UK.
They want a base in Europe.
