A present for my five year old nephew

But would he be allowed to race an electric radio controlled speedboat up and down the canal?
Are there any bylaws on this?
The moorhens might complain for starters. These boats may be banned on these waterways but not in the resevoirs.
Any advice?

Not sure about the rules, but if you are going to do it, don't get an expensive one, or buy him a pool to sail it in. Guaranteed, the first time you have it out, it will get tangled in something or stop working right in the middle of the canal and that will be that unless you fancy getting very wet!!!
