If so why ?

I am not a fanatical boycotter but here's a selection of brands I avoid :

Nestle (for promoting their milk products in 3rd world/developing countries over breast milk).
Shell (for allowing a teacher/campaigner to be murdered amongst other things)
McDonalds (for being a revolting globalising, greedy, lying evil business)
Coca Cola (ditto)
Procter and Gamble (suspected animal abuse)

I'm not 'holier than thou' about it but I do try to avoid buying into any products/services that I believe go against my humanitarian beliefs.

Don't be like that Micmak ! It'll come back.
Do you mean that in every walk of life Chris "winning is the only thing that matters"
SB1:
Thank you for reminding me about a book which I didn't enjoy!
I have to admit, that without your post, I'd have forgotten that he was first mate of the 'Pequod' ;-)

Blimey Chris !
"...forced into bankruptcy, destitution and ultimately suicide" I sincerely hope this is a dark sense of humour in action!
Hi Andy, my dad bought me some breaded fish from there which I cooked and started eating. I stopped almost immediately due to there not only being skin and a few bones, (which is sometimes expected) but the scales were still on them. I ended up leaving 2 pieces and it ruined my dinner. I've also eaten humous from there which didn't have any lemon, garlic or tahini paste in it. And a pear drink in a carton which was reduced to something like 50p. Not surprised as it was awful. Had to throw the whole carton away.

On the other hand I did buy a nice 4 piece desk tidy with a wastepaper basket.
Are we now talking moby dick?
Most interesting and constructive thread. I've now become a 'leftie'

(Note to self - email Cameron first thing in the morning resigning from the party and tell him to stick Nick Clegg up his a**e, or vice versa!!)
I'll go with that, Micmak. My 'Utopia' is a society (if such a thing could actually exist) which is many thousands of times more aggressive and competitive than life today.
Chris, What about "It's not whether you win or lose but how you play the game"
AP: That is most definitely not a 'dark sense of humour'.
I value efficiency, economy, organisation, power and profit. I believe that caring about any human being (even yourself) is a total waste of time and a sign of weakness.
Micmak;
Life is, indeed, a game but the only objective is to win.
Aha good one micmak.

...so a hug is out of the question then ? :-)
Oh, you swine, AP!

There I was 'getting all serious' and you make me laugh with your well-timed post ;-)

Go on then, I'll give you a hug (but watch out for my halitosis!)
You don't win in the end Chris, In the end you die.

Micmak re Ikea: "sacking an office Junior for the same price of new furniture"
please discuss - I'm unclear about what you meant.
Question Author
@ Chris .. ;-)
Good thread AP

Off to bed goodnight.
Question Author
Thankyou AYG (and Boxtops).
G'night.
AP. Several years ago when Ikea first came to this country they had aTV ad about office furniture. They showed office furniture ie desks, chairs, filing cabinets etc. then they showed an office Junior and said "which would you choose'" and then the junior getting his coat and walking out of the door.
