Would a male Sikh who was completely bald still wear a turban?
Of course they'd be bald because they lsot their hair through age because they're not supposed to cut or shave their heads, but would the answer depend on why they have to wear a turban, if it is to cover their hair then there wouldn't be any point in wearing one if you're bald, but if it's about covering your head in general would they still do it? Someone enlighten me please, I don't ever remember learning about sikhs at school much and this interesting puzzle has now arrised!
The issue is the covering of the head.
I knew a sikh chap with normal Western close-cut hair, I saw him both in and out of his turban.
Both his sons wore patkas and had uncut hair, I suppose to enable them to make a decision when they were older.
Since a turban is not one of the five Ks, there's theoretically no obligation upon a bald Khalsa (a baptised Sikh) to wear one, but I've little doubt that they all would. After all, they must still carry a Khanga (=comb)
I spoke with a Sikh about the turban and he said it is actually has a purpose as a helmet. All that hair and cloth is actually quite good protection to the skull.
