appropriate clothing for visiting the Queen

hi, I am visiting the Queen later this year and need to know appropriate clothing. I am a size 16 and have horrendously heavy legs that never look good. I would love to wear a maxi dress of some description but feel ths wouldn't be dressy enough? please advise tia x

All the Maxi dressesd have seen and like are too beachy if you get what I mean.

Spanner - you probably are far more aware of your "bad points" than other people see, my old mum was dreadfully aware of her big legs but she had a lovely face and dressed elegantly, so very few people ever considered her legs! Get a smart suit with a longish skirt - something like Roman Originals is sold in factory outlets and are very elegant but affordable - and a lovely hat, and you will carry the day!
