I don't understand why cyber bullying can have such a devestating effect on people. Surely if someone is being nasty to you online, you simply block them so you dont have any contact with them and refuse to engage with them anymore. Or isn't it as simple as that?
Let's assume two or three people started making offensive and abusive posts about you on here - you'd soon just leave.
But suppose all your friends were on here all the time, suppose this was facebook where they were posting photo-shoped pictures of you with.
And suppose instead of being a (middle-aged?) man you were a teenage girl who'd not had the life experience yet to allow her to build a lot of self-confidence yet?
I agree with David. If you are having issues online then surely you can simply ignore them. If the 'cyber bullying' spills over into school or work then surely it is real bullying.
I agree Den, any abusive comments should be reported to the correct authorities, be it police or forum providers. It is a shame though when people sometimes feel let down when action is not taken and abuse continues often spilling into other areas be it phone calls emails ect, it needs to be nipped in the bud and not allowed to escalate in the first place in my opinion.
