How do you pronounce Builth? As it's Welsh I presume it isn't Bwilth or even Bilth.

Builth Wells (Welsh: Llanfair ym Muallt) is a town in the county of Powys, pronounced Bilth, well that's is how I say it !!
It's not a Welsh name despite being in Wales. It's the name the English gave the town.

It is pronounced - locally - as 'bilth'. However, the not too distant town of Builth is pronounce 'bulth'.

Thanks redman. Just thought that would be too easy but as that isn't its Welsh name you're most likely right. Are you Welsh?
Question Author
Thanks bershire lad for confirming that.
I'm an Englishman exiled in North Wales so Builth Wells is like a foreign location for me ! :-)))
