How extraordinary that the BBC allowed its Planet Earth footage to be used for religious propaganda, especially since David Attenborough is an atheist!
No worry Jemisa. Chakka's on the case - and being the conscientious citizen he is, will likely have everyone's tax dollars restored to serving their rightful purpose in short order - or my name isn't . . . mibn2cweus.

What are you talking about Chakka, this is a beautiful video plus beautiful music with a spiritual undertone (hence being in R & S) where does propaganda come into it?
Only in your mind I presume. Lighten up man. I'll pray for you.

Jemisa, I know the pictures are beautiful; I saw them on Planet Earth. The propaganda 'comes into it' because they are used here to promote a Christian organisation and creationism.

But the BBC is not paid to supply promotional footage for all and sundry, and I would object just as strongly if the film were to promote atheism, Conservatism, the Labour Party, astrology, flat-earthism, Sarah Palin, homeopathy or any other creed, belief, person or organisation.

If you are a licence-payer and are happy for your material to be so used, that's fine. I'm not. I'm not sure that Ofcom would be either.

I'll try them and let you know...
On second thoughts, I'll try Auntie first.

(PS: What will you pray for on my behalf? Surely your omnipotent God knows all about me already and has decided long ago what my fate is going to be. The only trouble is that he hasn't returned the compliment by identifying himself to me. Rude fellow.)

And what is the right direction, Jemisa? Just so that I know whether your prayer has been answered or not.

No, I must stop this mockery and write to the Beeb to find ot what is going on. I'll let you know.

Jemima posted this beautiful video in the religion and spiritualty section so, unless
you want to be a religious complainer why not just sit and look at the pictures with the
sound turned off! I will also pray for those who need spiritual guidance.
Has the BBC allowed this usage ? Looks like an illegal and un-Christian use if not.

You are welcome to your opinion as I am to mine.
What smug religiosity - nature belongs to everyone
What is truly hilarious about this is that those stunning pictures, far from illustrating any silly creation myth, demonstrate most beautifully the wonders of evolution.
Nice footage but YEUCH ! to the cheesy christian proselytisation music.
I totally agree with Chakka on this.
Just one more unadulterated example of intellectual rape. Par for the course, religion hanging on like a bloodsucking leach, claiming credit due to their god while condemning the best within us, wallowing in the glory of the ugliness of ignoring that the inherent beauty of what we perceive can only be grasped explicitly by virtue of the rational mind they've abandoned in exchange for a favoured delusion.
