Why does prayer fail ?

When Madeline Macain disappeared ten of milliions of people from all denominations all over the world prayed that she would be found, even the Pope got involved calling upon Catholics everywhere to pray for her,and as you know her devout parents mounted a world wide appeal for prayers.
Result ? Nothing ! Now 4 years later there is still not a single clue.
Why , why , why ? If millions of prayers are not answered in any form, what chance does your single prayer stand. ?

because they have an answer for every possible eventuality...as others have noted, its yet another thing that is twisted to suit.

and it is not fine for people to use it as a crutch...
if religions function was ONLY to comfort people, and that was its ONLY effect in the world - then it would be fine...
but it isnt the only effect ...it is the cause of more bloodier wars than any other thing.... and unfortunately providing comfort for some deluded people is not enough of a reason to support it...

anyway i want to answer the main question, modeller says that when people prayed for madeline she was never found.
the simple fact is were religious, not magicians, we cant pray and she will appear out of thin air, if thats what you are expecting than you've got the whole concept of religion wrong.

Where do you get the statistic that for everyone that dies 3 more are born?? You say you want a simple answer to your main question. You have had many answers to this. It is very very simple - Prayer does not work because THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GOD.

Prayers don't work, every Saturday I pray ill get six numbers and Bristol City will it hasn't happened yet and I don't think it ever will. :-)

According to the papers (which I will admit are not always correct) some of the people who have had six numbers, Dave, have not been exactly nice people, so I don't think they trusted in the power of prayer to get them.

I like you sith - I like RATTER too. Don't get annoyed with him because he has a different viewpoint than you. We all think different things. One thing you can say for prayer, to whichever god you believe in, if it makes you feel good then it is doing something for you. It may not give you what you want but at least it does something for your morale.

thanks starbuck one, and i dont hate ratter lol, i respect his views its just i can get a bit carried away but when it comes down to it he has made some good points, i hope i have and it was just a nice discussion :)
