I absolutely detest it when people say things like "he was such a lovely man" when they probably only ever saw televised appearances. I am with sasskins on this, Carson was not a nice man, his dying does not change my opinion of him.
Most people when they die are lauded as being wonderful- its simple human nature for their families and those that loved them to do that. The actualy truth is that we all have negative points and some of us are downright nasty. those that dn't love us can't get why everyone's being all tea and sympathy when a horrible git pop's their clogs. You had a bad experience with him, so you're in the latter catagory, which isn't a particularly big deal in my book, you'r entitled to think he was a jerk, but some people on here will have his stage persona in their heads and get upset with you, so as long as your cool with that you're obviously entitled to your opinion.
For the record I think more people will celebrate than mourn me when I suff it, but that's just the way things are, try not to let anyone ' sour' your life sassy- no-one has that right.

new member or not this user should surely be treated like everyone else. Maybe could have been worded different like 'although he made people laugh in public, i met him once and he wasnt very nice' people always have a different life behind closed curtains. I watched a documentary about that guy with the fez (sorry total brainblock this morning) and although he made people laugh he was a very violent man. Infact ive found lots off 'funny men' are.
If sasskins worked in the theatre bar she would have met him multiple times ummmm, she may not have known him as a friend but would have spent enough time in his presence to know whether he was pleasant to folks or not. You have worked bars so surely you had regulars who you knew quite a lot about that others didn't.

In this context, I knew a family with six children. The father was a brute, down the pub every night back to beat up the wife and kids. They must have breathed a sigh of relief when he deserted them and went off with another woman. When he died and I read the obits I could not believe it. You would have thought he was a miracle husband and father who could do no wrong. Only those who knew him knew the truth. People will believe what they want.
