Creation of Hell

Who created Hell?
My understanding is that it is not in the Bible. However it features strongly in the Qu'ran where it appears to be explicitly created by Allah (the Merciful?) to forever punish those who fail to exercise their free will to worship Him.
There seem to be three possibilities for the origin.
1. The Catholics get it from the Qu'ran.
2. Early Catholics created it and Mohammed liked the idea.
3. Those who wrote the Bible neglected to include it when transcribing the rest of the old oral myths the books are based on.

The sooner most people realise that the better.
The church and religion have been conning us for centuries, how do you think the monastories got so rich before Henry 8 tore them down.
They "lied" to rich people saying they would only go to heaven if they gave the monks some money or paid for a new church or abbey to be built.
Churches have sold "the bones of jesus" and "the teeth of jesus" to gullible people, and often the bones or teeth were those who had been recently buried.
Look how many children have been abused by the Catholic church and how many millions the church has paid out in compensation all over the world.
Its all "made up" because we humans have no idea why we are so we have to "invent" a god and heaven to make our lives worthwhile.
Its all fairy stories.

As others have already said, Hell doesn't exist. All rational people know this. What is interesting though is why the theists think that it is real and necessary. I wonder what leads people to believe in a literal hell where people, or more accurately people's souls, are punished for all eternity? What is the point of such a place where redemption is impossible and admittance to it can be for crimes as trivial as blasphemy and apostasy and as serious as mass murder?
The only reason I can see for the literal existence of hell is to terrify theists into not breaking the laws of their religion. But can one be said to be truly good and moral if the only reason for being so is the terror of eternal torture in hell? The fact that so many atheists live their lives without committing acts such as burglary, assaults, rapes, murders, etc. clearly demonstrates that hell is an unnecessary tool with which to keep people on the straight and narrow.
Birdie, I would struggle greatly to diasagree with any of this but, on a much simpler level, do theists not need Hell to explain and solutionise the inexplicable?

Well, in an argument with a theist, when it gets diffucult for them, as it tends to do when logic is introduced, it is always the bogeyman of "Hell", that pops up as a "warning" and, admitedly this too is a creationist concept, isnofar as man created it, as he did God.
Which all relats back to your point that theists need Hell!
