The people who never got the chance of salvation
28 Answers
What happened to all the people who through no fault of their own never knew about god, Jesus, or the ten commandments?
You know, all the ones who lived and died long before any prohets or missionaries managed to spread the word to their part of the world.
They would never have known the correct way to behave or how to get into heaven, which seems unfair.
Did they go to hell, heaven, somewhere else, or just die?

Don't think I'll manage eternal Limbo, not with my back.

It's complicated. Jake's link seem to suggest that they were all consigned to limbo for a while until Jesus was crucified and then he went down to fetch them all before ascending to heaven.
I wonder what happened to those who never knew about him but died after he'd ascended. There must have been plenty of those. It took a while for the gospel to be spread after all. I'm sure there's a few people even today in the Amazon forest that don't know how the christian god wants them to behave.
Are they destined for eternal limbo?

Answer is very simple but many would not accept it because it is not something they like to see or hear. If you (or anyone else) believe that salvation was only through Jesus (pbuh) then you are spot on in thinking and mentioning what you did. However as a Muslim we believe that first human on this planet was Adam (pbuh) and he was also a prophet and therefore prophets have always been there. Muslims believe that there were roughly 124K messengers and prophets first being Adam (pbuh) and last being Muhammad (pbuh). Only difference is that the message given to all of the Prophets before Muhammad was just for that time. For that very reason you will not find any book or original message or teachings from those messengers. Now to answer your question, anyone who believed and acted upon the teachings of any of those the prophets during their time will have so called salvation as all of those prophets gave exactly the same BASIC message about worshiping only one God. Therefore it does not matter when you were born.
