Was He supposed to be in the form of a human like Jesus, or what?

I would have thought that if there is an approximate imaginary form to pray to it would seem more real than a wall.

An understatement, I think. It must be categorically dismissed!
"I find the idea of being unable to question, scrutinise, and criticise something as tenuous as a 'belief' really quite frightening."

For me the paradox is that such a supposedly strong religion is unable to brook any questioning whatsoever, suggesting a deeply felt insecurity at the heart of it.

yes, he was a human, but he is sacred to muslims. Therefore they dont like any drawings of him, the same as any other prophet in islam, but we react more over muhammed as he was the last prophet and therefore you could say the most important.
and i also agree with sudhakarkuruvada, his reason is right as well.
So if the Koran doesn’t forbid it, but Mohammed does, whose instruction is more important? Allah’s or Mohammed’s?
Is it just an Islamic thing? Weren't there iconoclasts in Cromwell's time?
you dont get it do you? The hadith is Muhammads sayings. Allah specifically said that follow muhammad. So we are. Also it is common knowledge that if you draw something than you're going to imagine that they look like that. For example Jesus. he is seen as white with blonde hair and blue eyes. Now he was more likely to be black or Asian to do with where he lived. But people perceive him to look like an Englishman.
Duncer, I think that they (theists) are all in a state of denial. Somewhere in their minds they know that the allah stuff is all nonsense but they just can't bring themselves to admit it. It is a difficult shift from absolute values to relative values.
Sith , you are exaggerating, if he ever existed he would most likely have been middle eastern, some even say that he was a jew!
//if he ever existed he would most likely have been middle eastern//

so in that case he is not white with blue eyes and blonde hair. My point exactly.
Lightbulb. I get it. Mohammed had second thoughts after writing the original.
if that's what you want to believe fine.
Well if Mohammed didn't write the Koran, all I can say is Allah didn't know much about science - which since everything is as a result of his handiwork, is most odd.
as i said, if thats what you want to believe fine.
The lightbulb is looking very dim!!, maybe the low wattage?
Sith , who said jesus was white with blue eyes, you are getting close to being racist.
have you seen movies about jesus, pictures of jesus, so many things about jesus show him like that.

type in jesus on google and go on images.
What does Hollywood’s wonky portrayal of Jesus have to do with this question?
